How to Decorate with the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year

For the first time ever, the design world was gifted with not one, but two Pantone Colors of the Year for 2016. Jumping on the gender-blurring bandwagon that defined the past 12 months, the color authority chose the delicate Rose Quartz and the calming blue Serenity, taking a “unilateral approach to color [that coincides] with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity,” as the company said in a statement. The cotton-candy hues might have been relegated to the nursery walls in decades past, but today, Pantone says that the open exchange of information online “has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.” And while the warmth of Rose Quartz and soothing nature of Serenity may still be perfect for bedrooms, we agree that the hues can be used to beautiful effect in other areas of the house.
